Career

Chad Sayala helps companies safeguard innovation and strengthen the value of their intellectual property. A registered patent attorney, he advises clients on all aspects of patent strategy, from building and managing portfolios to monetizing assets and enforcing rights.

Chad has prepared and prosecuted thousands of patent applications and has represented plaintiffs in patent enforcement actions across a wide range of technologies. His experience extends to image processing for autonomous vehicles, oilfield technology, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, sports equipment, agricultural systems, veterinary devices, industrial and mechanical systems, lighting, electronics, and medical implants. He also assists clients with patent licensing and transactional matters that connect IP protection to broader business goals.

Before entering private practice, Chad worked for an oilfield service company, operating measurement-while-drilling tools on offshore rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. That hands-on background in petroleum engineering informs his technical understanding of drilling, production, and energy systems, including enhanced recovery, carbon capture, and geothermal applications.

With his approachable style and quick grasp of complex technology, Chad supports innovators from startups to Fortune 500 companies with practical, business-aligned IP counsel.
