Christopher Coggins is a principal attorney in the firm's Commercial Litigation Practice Group, with a concentration on disputes between corporate shareholders, LLC members and business owners in the Delaware Court of Chancery. He has substantial experience addressing and briefing the complex legal issues raised in chancery litigation, which often involve expedited claims for injunctive and similar equitable relief. These issues include business disputes, statutory claims under Delaware’s General Corporation Law and fiduciary litigation involving trusts and estates. He manages discovery and conducts key witness depositions in business contract rescission cases and questions witnesses in Delaware Court of Chancery dissolution trials. In addition, Christopher has litigated matters involving a diverse array of legal issues before Delaware’s other courts, including the Supreme Court. He also has experience handling claims in arbitration, as well as in other alternative dispute resolution forums. His experience in various areas of the law allows him to present unique ways for clients to resolve their disputes with the best possible results. His experience includes:
Drafting briefs in support of motions and in opposition to motions for preliminary injunctions on matters including contractual non-competition clauses and interpretation of a Delaware trust instrument. Conducting the deposition of a key witness in a case concerning the rescission of a contract of sale of a business in various litigation matters. Questioning witnesses at a Delaware Court of Chancery trial concerning the dissolution of a Delaware limited liability company. Presenting arguments before various courts on multiple issues, such as disputes related to a Motion to Dismiss Corporate Veil Piercing Claims (Court of Chancery; Dismissal Granted), discovery, landlord-tenant, and guardianship issues.Memberships
