Career
Austin Hinel is an associate in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group. He has experience representing multinational corporations and their officers, regional/local businesses, and individuals and their families in a wide variety of estate and trust-related claims and issues. Austin is familiar with all steps of litigation, from pre-suit investigations to judgment.
A cornerstone of Austin's practice is his frequent representation of individuals and families in estate and trust claims, both as plaintiffs/petitioners and defendants/respondents. His experience spans will and trust disputes, improper execution, breach of fiduciary duty, executor/administrator misconduct, lack of testamentary capacity, undue influence, inheritance disagreements, fraud, forgery, and more.
Austin also has significant experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements, including settlement agreements. He has handled a myriad of business issues, such as business succession and planning, business succession disputes, shareholder disputes, partner disputes, breach of contract claims, breach of fiduciary duty claims, fraud and more.
Licensed to practice in Virginia and Washington, D.C., Austin has successfully represented clients before Virginia General District Courts, Virginia Circuit Courts, and the D.C. Superior Court. He understands the distinct legal landscapes of each jurisdiction making him uniquely equipped to advise and advocate for his clients’ specific needs and successfully navigate a variety of legal issues. In addition, Austin has experience with arbitrations and mediation, including estate disputes, breach of contract, real property disputes, and more.
