Joris Wouters graduated in law from the Catholic University of Leuven in 2002. In 2003, he was awarded a degree in Specialised Studies of Economic Law at the Free University of Brussels.

Also in 2003, he began his internship at GSJ advocaten in the Real Estate, Construction Law and Public Procurement team. While working under the supervision of Christophe Lenders, he began to specialise in public procurement law and construction law. Nowadays, Joris Wouters focuses mainly on the award of public contracts and construction law, an area of legal practice that involves all the stakeholders in the construction process. Lastly, he regularly offers advice and assistance in the context of court proceedings.
