He has a particular expertise in money laundering, asset recovery, and investigative and pre-trial detention proceedings. He is known for his pragmatic and strategic approach, advising clients in complex cases and helping them navigate challenging regulatory and criminal investigations with clarity and precision.

Prior to joining Kipper Durth Schott, Jakob Lehners worked for a year as a research associate at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, where he gained a strong foundation in public and international law.

Education

Jakob Lehners studied law at Heidelberg University and completed his legal clerkship (Referendariat) in Frankfurt am Main, focusing on criminal law. During this time, he worked in the dispute resolution practice of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he gained experience in complex, cross-border matters. He also spent part of his clerkship at a prominent boutique firm specialising in white-collar crime defence.
