Position

Dr. Hanno Durth partner of Kipper Durth Schott and a highly regarded specialist in white-collar criminal law. He regularly represents clients in high-stakes criminal defence proceedings and provides strategic advice to companies and public authorities on all aspects of criminal law. His practice also covers cybercrime, data and know-how protection as well as professional regulatory matters. Dr. Hanno Durth is recognised for his pragmatic and solution-oriented approach, combining deep legal expertise with extensive experience in complex and sensitive cases.

Career

Dr. Hanno Durth began his career as an attorney at a leading criminal law boutique in Frankfurt am Main from 2002 to 2006. He holds a doctorate in law under the supervision of former Vice-President of the Federal Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Winfried Hassemer. His doctoral thesis, “Der Kampf gegen das Unrecht: Gustav Radbruchs Theorie eines Kulturverfassungsrechts”, was awarded the Werner Pünder Prize.

Dr. Hanno Durth serves as an attorney member of the 1st Senate of the Hessian Lawyers’ Disciplinary Court of Appeal (Hessischer Anwaltsgerichtshof).

For more than a decade, he has been a lecturer in the training of legal trainees (Referendare) and, since 2016, has served as a lecturer for the specialised course “Criminal Defence” organised by the Hessian Ministry of Justice and for the Rule of Law.

Dr. Durth is a founding member of the Association for Business Criminal Law (Wirtschaftsstrafrechtliche Vereinigung e.V.) and acted as spokesperson of its executive board during the first six years of the association’s existence.

Education

Dr. Hanno Durth studied law in Frankfurt am Main and spent a period at the European University Institute in Florence. During his legal clerkship, he completed a placement at a London law firm, with an attachment to the Warburg Institute.

In his spare time, Dr. Hanno Durth maintains a keen interest in philosophy, political theory and sociology, with a particular focus on theories of society. He appreciates the broader intellectual frameworks that shape legal and social systems. Dr. Hanno Durth values time spent with his family and enjoys travelling, drawing inspiration from different cultures and perspectives.
