Career
Merel advises and litigates in the field of employment law. She specializes in (individual and collective) dismissals, works councils and the appointment or dismissal of managing directors. Merel also assists clients in negotiations with trade unions regarding collective labour agreements and social plans, and advises on remuneration policies. Merel works for large and medium-sized companies.
Merel is a committed and knowledgeable lawyer who also has an eye for interests beyond the purely legal. Her approach is pragmatic and her advice is directly applicable.
Merel has been a lawyer for almost 15 years. She started her career at Allen & Overy in 2009. She subsequently worked at Rutgers & Posch and was a partner at TOON Advocaten in Amsterdam. Merel joined DVAN Advocaten as a partner in 2025.
