Career

Mr Dávalos has led the Labour and Social Security Law Department at Hurtado Gandini Dávalos Abogados since 2009. With over two decades of professional experience, he has developed a distinguished career representing clients in individual and collective labour disputes, trade union protection proceedings, and constitutional actions (tutelas) related to fundamental rights such as work, health, and social security.

He provides legal advisory services to clients across various industries, including commerce, construction, services, food, chemical, and security sectors. His extensive expertise encompasses both litigation and negotiation, having served as corporate negotiator in numerous collective bargaining processes and as an arbitrator in Collective Labour Law Tribunals. Since 2018, he has been appointed as an arbitrator for the Labour Division of Colombia’s Supreme Court of Justice, specialising in collective labour dispute negotiations.

Mr Dávalos’s distinguished arbitration practice includes appointments by the Ministry of Labour to Arbitration Tribunals in cases involving SPILBUN S.A. and the National Union of Transport and Logistics Workers (SNTT), as well as other proceedings between SINTRADIT and RAPIASEO, and between SINTRAUTR&T and Unión Temporal Recaudo y Tecnología (UTR&T), where he has consistently achieved favourable outcomes for the companies he represents.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr Dávalos serves as adjunct lecturer at Universidad Icesi in Cali, teaching postgraduate courses in Labour and Social Security Law and the Master’s in Law programme. His academic engagement reflects his commitment to advancing legal knowledge and professional excellence in his field.

Most recently, he was appointed as an alternate judge (conjuez) to the Labour Chamber of the Superior Tribunal of Buga, Valle del Cauca, further consolidating his reputation as a leading authority in labour and social security law in Colombia.

Education

He holds a law degree from Universidad San Buenaventura de Cali, with specialisations in Social Security Law from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Cali and Evidentiary Law from Universidad Sergio Arboleda in Bogotá.
