Damaris Hernández is a partner at Hecker Fink LLP.
With nearly two decades of experience, Damaris has successfully represented and advised Fortune 100 companies and financial institutions in a broad range of complex commercial disputes, securities and antitrust class actions, regulatory enforcement actions, product liability matters, and high-value contract litigation. She has also guided multinational corporations and individuals through internal investigations and sensitive government inquiries. Damaris has led teams through every stage of high-profile, high-risk litigation and her trial experience spans both federal and state courts.
In addition to her corporate work, Damaris maintains an active pro bono practice, which includes litigation related to wrongful convictions, prisoners’ rights, and immigration enforcement.
Damaris has been recognized as one of the “500 Leading Litigators in America” by Lawdragon, and has received accolades from Legal 500, Benchmark Litigation, Crain’s New York Business, New York Law Journal, and other leading industry publications for her work and leadership in the field. Damaris has also been honored by organizations such as the Council of Urban Professionals, LatinoJustice, and the Puerto Rican Bar Association.
Beyond her legal practice, Damaris is deeply invested in shaping the legal profession. She is a member of the American Law Institute, a member of the Board of Trustees of New York University, a Trustee of New York University School of Law, and a mentor to students in the law school’s AnBryce Scholarship program. Additionally, Damaris serves on the boards of the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, the Central Park Conservancy, and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. In 2023, she was appointed by the New York State Bar Association to co-chair a special committee tasked with examining the selection of judges for the New York State Court of Appeals.
Damaris joined the firm from Cravath, Swaine and Moore LLP where she was a partner. She earned her A.B., magna cum laude, from Harvard College and her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was an associate editor of the N.Y.U. Review of Law & Social Change and an AnBryce Scholar.
