The 'responsive and proactive' BROSETA Abogados offers 'top-level advice at a reasonable cost'. It advised funds managed by Oaktree Capital on the acquisition of a secured NPL portfolio from Banco Sabadell with an outstanding balance in excess of €1bn. The 'smart, proactive and experienced' Antonio Navarro leads the team. Now head of the banking and finance practice in Madrid, Carlos Gutiérrez joined from Baker McKenzie in January 2018.
BROSETA Abogados regularly handles mid-sized deals such as advising car park operator Parkia on the €25m acquisition of Laoconte Operaciones from Liberbank. Another highlight was assisting Habock Aviation with the acquisition of Sociedad Aeronáutica Peninsular. Julio Veloso is recommended, and Joaquín Giráldez and Carlos Ochoa joined the partnership.

BROSETA Abogados' area of expertise is in the financial services sector, particularly banking litigation. The ‘cohesive team’ is led by Patricia Gualde and ‘stands out for its professional excellence and availability’. The department was also recently strengthened by the arrival of senior adviser José Manuel Otero from legacy firm Otero Lastres, he specialises in intellectual property law and related disputes. The ‘very knowledgeable’ practice is handling over 1,000 judicial claims for Bankinter related to the nullity of multi-currency mortgages, as well as representing Mapfre Group in proceedings initiated by insured clients, regarding life and health insurance contracts.

BROSETA Abogados' Valencia-based public law department is experienced in handling urban planning matters, an area in which it advises Sareb and several building material manufacturers such as Coemac. Rosa Vidal heads the group.

The multi-disciplinary team at BROSETA Abogados has particular experience in alternative energy projects, focused on solar, wind, waste-to-energy and cogeneration. Practice head Rosa Vidal specialises in administrative contracts and renewable energy regulation. Her team is advising Santander and Grupo Ibereolica on the financing of a substation in Zamora, as well as acting for BP Oil España in a damages claim against the state legislator, relating to new renewable energy regulations approved in Spain. Other key clients include Vector Cuatro, Sica Desarrollos and Juwi Energías Renovables.
