Adv. Ortal specialises in commercial and corporate law, with particular expertise in corporate governance, corporate secretarial work and securities law. She is highly regarded for her extensive experience advising companies, boards of directors and board committees on a broad range of complex corporate and governance matters. Ortal regularly advises on controlling shareholder transactions, tender offers, executive compensation arrangements, administrative enforcement plans, and other sensitive governance and regulatory issues. Her practice also includes sophisticated merger, split and reorganisation transactions, investment and sale transactions, and a wide range of commercial agreements. A defining strength of Ortal's practice is her exceptional in-house experience. For approximately 20 years, she served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Alon Israel Oil Company Ltd., one of Israel's largest retail groups, which held both public companies traded in Israel and the United States and private companies across a range of sectors. In that role, she was closely involved in complex legal and governance matters relating to extensive operations in oil and natural gas exploration in Israel and the United States, LPG, food and textiles. Today, Ortal provides ongoing legal and commercial support to companies operating in a variety of sectors, including energy, industry, medical cannabis and start-ups. She is particularly valued for combining strong technical legal expertise with commercial understanding, practical judgment and a deep familiarity with the needs of boards and management teams.
