Karen De Braekeleer is an attorney and specializes in Administrative and Public Law, more specifically in the field of Public Procurement, Public-Private Partnerships and Public Infrastructure. She first joined the Ghent Bar in 2000, and then became a member of the Brussels Bar in 2003.

She has more than 20 years of experience as a lawyer in the public sector (in the broad sense) and is known within this sector as a go-to legal expert for advisory files and assistance in legal proceedings. She acts as legal adviser to public authorities (e.g. Belgian State, Flemish Government) and public and private companies (ILvA, WVI, Port of Antwerp-Bruges, hospitals, bpost, Sport Vlaanderen, and MIVB).

Karen handles files on government contracts in the broad sense. She provides assistance in the awarding of public contracts and in implementation disputes, and this with regard to a number of sectors. Karen also has extensive experience in public private partnerships, concessions, public Real Estate Law and Construction Law, in which she has regularly provided advice and legal assistance.

Karen publishes regularly on Public Procurement Law and also gives lectures and in-house training on the subject.
