The firm

Liber Dock has been founded in March 2015 by Marian van Eck (previously partner at Boekel) and Boudewijn Kanen (previously senior counsel at Boekel). Working with an experienced team of lawyers we examine legal and strategic matters relating to Employment, Enterprise & Co-Determination (in Dutch: Arbeid, Onderneming & Medezeggenschap). We strongly focus on corporate employment law. Since the start of Liber Dock we have doubled in size. We have grown from 4 lawyers to 8 very experienced lawyers: Marian van Eck (more than 20 years of experience and recognised as expert in the field of employee participation and collective bargaining law), Boudewijn Kanen (over 10 years of experience and recognised in the field as a bright talent, also on pensions), Professor Ronald Beltzer (more than 20 years of experience and recognised as a top expert by peers), Linda Brouwer (over 10 years of experience and extensive experience in employment and corporate litigation), Marleen van Woerden (more than 8 years of experience in an international practice), Simone Schmeetz (approximately 10 years experience and an all-round specialist in the labour law practice with a focus on the labour law aspects of mergers, acquisitions and outsourcing, Heleen Foesenek (more than 6 years of experience and a lot of experience with the assistance in complex change programs) and two Legal Assistants.

Areas of practice

We are experts in strategic and legal advice on labour related change programmes within companies including the involvement or position of Works Council, Supervisory Board, Management and Trade Unions. The key to Liber Dock’s concept is working with national and international clients as business partners to achieve groundbreaking solutions. Our philosophy of being business partners with our clients also includes the concept of ‘our office is your office’. All of our clients can (and do) use our office to work or conduct meetings (no matter with whom). Liber Dock adds value by providing tailor-made service and advice, for example via infographics. Knowledge-sharing is an important part of our services and clients are facilitated through a knowledge portal allowing them to carry out their daily business in an easy and cost-effective manner.
