Six Advocaten
Netherlands
Diversity
Our mix of different backgrounds and personalities is what defines SIX advocaten. We believe in an open and non-hierarchical work environment, where everyone is free to voice their ideas. We use each of our individual strengths and consult and support each other in our aim to provide the best possible service to our clients. All of our partners are highly-regarded experts in their field of law. We understand you have a business to run and want to understand your business. We strive to provide practical and hands-on solutions. We take an active part in the legal community.
Diversity and inclusion are reflected in the way we work together: with equal opportunities, mutual respect and room for different perspectives, backgrounds and personalities. SIX advocaten has a balanced gender representation and generational diversity across the firm, including at partner level, which reflects our broader commitment to an inclusive working environment.
One of our partners, Irma van den Berg, is a volunteer for and former chair of the board of Lawyers for Lawyers (L4L), an independent and non-political Dutch foundation that supports lawyers worldwide in practising their profession freely and independently. In 2022, Lawyers for Lawyers was awarded the Geuzenpenning, and in 2020 Irma was elected Most Socially Committed Lawyer by a professional jury for her longstanding commitment to Lawyers for Lawyers. L4L has been granted Special Consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council and SIX recently became an L4L sponsor.
Irma is now chair of the board of the Nuhanovic Foundation that supports survivors of war crimes and crimes against humanity in their quest for justice. Our partner Hanneke Ellerman is a member of the Supervisory Council of the National Bar Council. All our partners regularly teach and contribute to several professional journals.
