Career

Matthew started his career at HFW in London. He then moved to Wikborg Rein in Singapore for 3 years before joining Hill Dickinson as a Partner in 2022.

In addition to spending time in Singapore and London, Matthew has spent time in Dubai where he acted on a range of contentious matters for clients based in the region. He has also spent time with an offshore insurance syndicate as well as spending 6 months working at an International Group P&I Club.

Matthew is a Partner at Hill Dickinson’s Singapore office and is part of the firm's Marine and Trade practice. Matthew is a member of the firm's Marine Emergency Response Team.

Matthew specialises in international commercial dispute resolution, with a focus on shipping, offshore/energy and insurance disputes. He has advised extensively on both wet and dry shipping matters, including salvage cases (LOF and commercial terms), groundings, wreck removals, collisions, fire on board vessel, container casualties, GA disputes, dry issues arising out of casualties, COA, VSA, BL and charterparty based disputes involving various forms, as well as offshore casualties/disputes involving jackups, PSVs and other types of vessel. Matthew also advises on contract review and commercial matters within his areas of specialisation.

Matthew has experience of English Commercial and Admiralty Court proceedings, as well as international arbitration (LMAA, LOF, LCIA, SIAC, SCMA, UNCITRAL and ad hoc).
