In August 2026 we made a significant step in the strategic development of our Firm and since then we will operate under the name Tomkiel law firm (registered name M. Tomkiel Sp.k.).

Continuity of business as well as cooperation with existing clients is maintained. Ms Hansberry-Bieguńska will continue to work with certain clients along with the Tomkiel team.

We gradually expand our scope of services to provide even broader support to Clients across diverse sectors and markets.

Our law firm continues to be differentiated from other competition practices in the market because of our lawyers’ combined experience of having worked previously in the Polish Competition Authority and in other law firms.  We well understand the balance of professionalism and business in running a successful law firm.  Not only has our team accumulated a wealth of experience concerning the business and markets in which our clients operate, but we well understand a regulator’s practice and approach in competition matters such as cartels, illegal horizontal and vertical agreements, abuses of dominance and mergers.

In working with our clients, we construct solid defenses built on facts (and we excel in analyzing and uncovering facts), the law, the market, and economics.  If a client chooses to cooperate with a Competition Authority (leniency or a settlement), we are adept in assembling the facts and positions to meet the expectations of the Authority and to achieve a client’s chosen goal.

We are extremely experienced in litigating competition cases before courts of all instances and work well with economists and industry expert witnesses when appropriate. Like other competition/antitrust practices, much of our litigation initially takes place during investigations of the Competition Authority and subsequently, before courts of first and second instances in the event that our client or another party appeals a decision of the Competition Authority.

We are especially active in litigating private damage actions, both on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants.

Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel has been a frequently-invited speaker in several high-ranking conferences in Poland on EU and Polish competition law, including European Competition Day in June 2025.

In September 2026, Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel will take part in the Lear Competition Festival in Rome, during which she will lead a panel on the competition in the food market with experts from Poland, Finland, Hungary and Lithuania.

In addition to Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel’s invaluable experience as a previous head of the Polish Competition Authority and her deep knowledge of the law, procedure and practice. The firm benefits from Professor Materna’s role as the head of INP PAN’s Department of Competition Law. An experienced lecturer, he leads the postgraduate competition law and consumer protection law programs, as well as doctoral studies organized by INP PAN (Institute of Legal Studies at the Polish Academy of Science). Other partners such as Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel and Dorota Podsiedzik-Malec lecture competition and consumer protection laws at postgraduate studies organized by INP PAN and Warsaw School of Economics.
