Areas of practice

Maritime, shipping, admiralty and transport: the services provided cover both contentious and non-contentious shipping matters, either wet or dry, including collisions, general average, salvage, marine pollution and personal injury cases. On one side the firm deals with charterparty disputes, bill of lading disputes, cargo claims, shipbuilding contract disputes, ship repair disputes and arrest of vessels, and on the other side foreign and domestic clients are advised on non-contentious matters such as memorandum of agreement for sale and purchase of vessels, new building contracts with shipbuilders, first naval mortgage with various first-class banks, ship agent agreements and ship registration.

Marine insurance: as one of its core practice areas, the firm assists clients in all areas of marine insurance, including hull, P&I, FD&D, charterers’ liability, loss of hire, war, political and terrorism risks, and port and terminal liability. The firm is highly reputable with its first-class cross-border assistance to the international group of P&I clubs, major fixed premium P&I insurers and leading hull underwriters from major insurance markets.

Employment and marine labour: the expertise of Cavus & Coskunsu’s lawyers covers all sorts of employment law matters, such as restructuring, outsourcing, contracts of employment, termination agreements, re-employment lawsuits, debt recovery actions and social security declaratory actions. Many shipping clients are outsourcing their employment law disputes directly to the firm.
