Career

Kypros is an experienced restructuring and insolvency lawyer with extensive involvement in high-profile domestic and cross-border insolvency matters, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, and banking and finance transactions. He advises on complex corporate and commercial matters involving significant financial, regulatory, and strategic considerations.

He is regularly appointed as liquidator in both compulsory and voluntary liquidations and acts as an expert advisor on issues concerning the duties, obligations, and liabilities of directors, liquidators, receivers, and managers in insolvency proceedings. His practice encompasses business rescue strategies, asset tracing and recovery, debt restructurings, and both domestic and cross-border reorganisations implemented through mergers, de-mergers, and other corporate restructuring processes.

Work Experience

Kypros represents companies facing financial distress, as well as creditors, in compromises, restructurings, and the structuring and implementation of schemes of arrangement. Throughout his career, he has advised leading international financial institutions and corporations and has worked closely with multinational law firms, including firms within the so-called “Magic Circle,” on matters of substantial commercial value and international scope.

In parallel with his legal practice, Kypros is a regular instructor and trainer to public authorities and private institutions on insolvency, restructuring, and corporate rescue matters. He is widely regarded as a technically skilled and committed professional with a strong practical understanding of insolvency and restructuring frameworks.

In June 2021, Kypros was appointed by the President of the Republic and the Council of Ministers as a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA), a position he continues to hold.

Kypros holds a Law Degree from the Democritus University of Thrace, a Master’s Degree in International Commercial and Business Law from the University of East Anglia (UEA), and a Postgraduate Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from Queen Mary University of London. He has also completed specialised professional programmes and holds certifications in Financial Technology, Cryptocurrency, Machine Learning, and Digital Banking from Imperial College Business School.

He is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association and the Kyrenia Bar Association, a licensed Insolvency Practitioner, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
