Seyfi Moroğlu, Partner

Partner E. Seyfi Moroğlu shares insights on how Moroğlu Arseven supports clients with an integrated, business-oriented approach while adapting to technological and market developments.   What do you see as the main points that differentiate Moroğlu Arseven from your competitors? Full coverage of expertise areas with a project mindset, brought together by a team of lawyers who have acquired experience through working on complex matters of any size and at any phase. There is considerable industrial and commercial diversity within our clientele — we do not differentiate between small and big projects. Our matrix team structure enables all lawyers to work in any combination. We do not differentiate between day-to-day work and transactional work for a client, as involvement in daily work enables more effective support at critical moments, whether in projects or disputes. A good number of our lawyers have experience spanning both transactional and dispute-related matters. This is how our mindset and daily work can be characterised, and all of the above contribute to our firm's distinction in practice.   Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that? Life sciences, technology and innovation, as well as corporate immigration, and collective investment structures such as investment funds. We observe that this growth is a reflection of economic and financial dynamics, and the zeal of entrepreneurs and investors to increase their differentiation and build sustainable businesses. This is also reflected in the strategies of larger companies, which are looking to strengthen their internal entrepreneurial capabilities and processes — whether through strategic M&A or other investments.   What's the main change you've made in the firm that will benefit clients? We have invested meaningfully in legal AI tools globally recognised by other law firms and we are actively involved in the development of AI tools. We launched a fully redesigned website that serves as a dynamic knowledge hub, offering a richer and more precise presentation of the firm's capabilities, practices, and team. We welcomed back a highly regarded partner in insurance practice area, who is well respected across both the Turkish and international insurance communities, having an established a dedicated practice at the intersection of insurance law and technology. A senior of-counsel with an outstanding reputation in commercial criminal law has joined the firm. He previously served as a partner until 2007.   Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them? Yes, very much so. We have invested in legal AI and are part of a legal AI development team working to enhance pre-investigation risk analysis and prevention worldwide. This allows our lawyers to focus their expertise where it matters most: on strategic analysis, risk assessment, and client-facing advisory. Technology is not replacing the human element of legal practice at Moroğlu Arseven — it is amplifying it.   Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client add value to their business? We proposed that a client adopt a joint venture structure in Türkiye to expand its business. We identified and introduced suitable JV candidates to the client and closed the deal in a critical business sector. Further, a close-knit part of our team worked alongside a multinational client throughout their market entry into Türkiye, designing a first-of-its-kind sales structure in line with client’s global practice, analysing and addressing areas of risk and helping to realise a smooth market entry. This involved a series of business-oriented steps alongside legal support, which enabled both parties to have a more effective problem-solving and decision-making capacity.   Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms — where do you see the firm in three years' time? Our mindset is to work as an extension of the client's business teams, whilst closely observing both the practical and complex issues that will or may benefit from the approach and methodology of our team. We believe that this proximity to the client's business and operational reality enables a much more solid strategic output — one that the client will find straightforward to implement. Our clients communicate with the same long-standing team members who know them very well.
