Tax
The tax practice comprises lawyers, economists and advisers with experience from private practice, the Norwegian Tax Administration, the Petroleum Tax Office and academia. The team advises Norwegian corporates with international operations, multinational groups with activities in Norway, private equity sponsors, and public-sector entities.
The practice covers the full range of domestic and international corporate tax, including structuring, M&A, disputes and appeals before the Tax Appeal Board and the courts. The team has particular strength in transfer pricing, operating one of the Nordic region's largest TP practices, and in petroleum taxation, where it has deep experience with internal gas sales, financial transactions and intercompany services. The team's EEA law expertise has directly contributed to legislative amendments in Norway.
In deals tax, the team provides buy-side and sell-side due diligence, acquisition and exit structuring, fund structuring and SPA negotiations for both operational corporates and PE sponsors, working alongside PwC's global Deals network of 1,700+ professionals across 60 countries. The transfer pricing team is connected to PwC's global TP network of over 4,000 specialists in 80+ countries.
Tax reporting and compliance capabilities encompass Pillar Two, DAC 6, FATCA, CbCR, operational tax function support and digital solutions.
Indirect Tax (VAT, Customs and Excise)
The firm houses Norway's largest indirect tax team, covering domestic VAT, international trade (VAT, customs, excise, CBAM), compliance/SAF-T and public-sector VAT compensation. Many team members are former officials of the Norwegian Tax Administration and Customs Authority.
The practice advises across sectors including energy, oil and gas, aquaculture, telecoms, financial services, retail, defence and shipping. Services span advisory, VAT reviews, audits, dispute resolution, litigation, cross-border VAT registrations, fiscal representation, customs valuation and rules of origin. The team has developed a proprietary SAF-T conversion and analytics solution and collaborates with more than 1,900 indirect tax specialists in PwC's global network across 150 countries.
In the public and voluntary sectors, the team assists municipalities, county authorities, health trusts and voluntary organisations with VAT compensation claims and has represented clients in numerous court proceedings against the tax authorities.
