Wiersholm

Partner Eli Aasheim works mainly with employment law. Her practice covers all aspects of employment law, including pension. She has considerable experience with negotiating and solving individual disputes in employment. She also has extensive experience with restructuring and downscaling processes, business transfers and cross-border employment issues. She is frequently used as a lecturer on various topics in employment law.

Jon Martin Atkinson

Jon Martin's main practice area is transactions, with a particular focus on aquaculture, renewable energy and technology.

Partner Bettina Banoun has extensive experience in work related to tax law, litigation, company law and EEA law. She is the chairman of the Tax Law Committee of the Norwegian Bar Association. Bettina Banoun is admitted to the Supreme Court and litigates regularly before Norwegian courts of justice. She also has experience in litigation before the EFTA Court and with complaints before the EFTA Surveillance Authority. Bettina Banoun has a PhD from the University of Oslo and wrote her thesis on "Tax avoidance", and she has legal training from Oxford University, University of Oslo and Harvard Law School. She is the author of several articles regarding tax law.

Managing Associate

Partner Andreas Bullen's practice includes transfer pricing, international tax law, Norwegian company tax law and EEA tax law. He assists many companies in matters of transfer pricing, including the choice of corporate structure, preparation of intra-group agreements and transfer pricing documentation, appeals cases and court cases. Bullen has written a doctoral thesis (PhD) at the University of Oslo titled "Arm's length transaction structures: Recognising and restructuring controlled transactions in transfer pricing". Bullen's doctoral thesis was awarded the Mitchell B. Carroll Prize by the International Fiscal Association and the European Academic Tax Thesis Award by the European Commission and the European Association of Tax Law Professors. Bullen is also the author of the book “EU, EEA and Tax: The four freedoms and direct taxation” and several articles on national and international tax law, including EEA tax law.

Håkon Cosma Størdal

Partner Håkon Cosma Størdal advises on EU/EEA law and is a specialist in competition law. He also handles questions related to public and administrative law. From his period as legal director with the Norwegian Competition Authority, Størdal has gained significant experience in handling complex competition cases. He has also been a national expert with the EFTA surveillance authority in Brussels, working with state aid and competition cases.

Anne Lise Ellingsen Gryte practices corporate and securities law with an emphasis on capital market transactions. Her practice focuses primarily on initial public offerings, equity raising and offerings and public takeovers. Anne Lise advises a wide range of issuers, investment banks, boards of directors and shareholders across all sectors and sizes in matters relating to company law and securities law.

Inge Ekker Bartnes

Partner Inge Ekker Bartnes works mainly with mergers and acquisitions, energy law, tax law and company law. Bartnes' advisory services focus on the energy sector (hydroelectric power, wind power and small-scale power) and renewable energy in particular. Bartnes also assists in purchase and sale of energy companies, in negotiation and preparation of contracts, and in regulatory matters and restructuring processes. Bartnes has in-depth knowledge of and experience with the energy sector and has played an important role in most of the major energy transactions in Norway in recent years.

Oda works primarily with public procurement law, contract law and dispute resolution as well as compliance and investigations, in particular with public procurement law.

Georg Abusdal Engebretsen

Partner Georg Abusdal Engebretsen specialises in assisting Norwegian and international enterprises and public institutions in compliance and investigations. He has extensive experience and expert knowledge in a wide range of compliance law matters in a number of business sectors , including technology, industry and shipping. Mr. Engebretsen is also an experienced litigator and has, among other things, litigated cases concerning infringement penalties under the Norwegian Competition Act. He is often used as a lecturer both in Norway and abroad. He has for many years been a member of the compliance committee of the Center for Continuing Legal Education.

Partner Jan Fougner is a specialist on litigation and employment law and has extensive experience from a number of high-profile cases involving legal, political and reputational risk. He has litigated approximately 20 cases before the Supreme Court. In addition, Jan Fougner works with contract law, petroleum law, administrative law, environmental law and the law of damages. He is Professor II of Employment Law at BI Norwegian Business School and the author of several textbooks. He gives lectures on a regular basis and has vast experience from public and private boards, councils and committees. He has also been the head of several major investigations. Jan Fougner has extensive experience with management and change processes in which the framework conditions of collective employment law and the restoration of the employer's managerial prerogative are of vital importance. He is also leading in Norway on compliance, anti-corruption, corporate penalty, conflict and crisis management, and subsequent clear-up processes under both Norwegian and international legislation, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Atle Gabrielsen

Partner Atle Gabrielsen works primarily with banking and finance issues. He regularly assists Norwegian and international banks and financial institutions with various forms of financing, including project financing, refinancing and acquisition financing, as well as restructurings, involving a wide range of industry sectors such as shipping/offshore, E&P and energy.

Ståle Gjengset

Partner Ståle Gjengset works mainly with providing legal and strategic advice and preparing contracts in business transfers, mergers and demergers. Gjengset also has considerable experience with financing and financial restructuring. He was in charge of the first and, at present, only Norwegian refinancing that was carried out under the US "Chapter 11" regulations. In addition to acquisition financing and corporate financing, Ståle Gjengset has also assisted a number of companies in the offshore and aircraft industries with various acquisitions, sales and leasing transactions. Ståle Gjengset also has long experience with international negotiations and transactions.

Partner Morten Goller works with dispute resolution, including litigation and negotiations, in public procurement, competition law, contract law and constructions, and tax law. He also advises Norwegian and foreign clients on state aid and competition law and has particular expertise on public procurement. Goller has previously worked for the Attorney General (Civil Affairs) and is a member of the Norwegian Complaints Board for Public Procurement. He is admitted to the Supreme Court and litigates regularly before Norwegian courts. Goller also has experience from international arbitration and the EFTA Court.

Torkjel Kleppo Grødalen

Partner Torkjel Kleppo Grøndalen works mainly with contract law and regulatory aspects within the oil- and gas industry and the energy industry. His area of expertise covers the petroleum regulations, CO2-storage regulations and offshore wind regulations.

Svein-Helge Hanken

Svein-Helge works primarily with transactions, including purchase and sale of businesses for buy-out funds and industrial players. His main areas of expertise are company law and contract law, as well as aquaculture law. He also has experience as an in-house group legal counsel from within the seafood industry and has advised on a wide range of both corporate and operational issues, both in connection with transactions, operational projects and ongoing cases.

Kristine Hasle is a banking and finance lawyer with particular focus on the shipping/offshore and energy sectors. She regularly assists borrowers, lenders, investors and arrangers, domestically and internationally. Ms. Hasle has extensive experience with international and cross border financings and transactions, including sale and leaseback transactions. Her practice further includes advice and documentation in restructuring matters. Ms. Hasle also has experience with acquisition financing and general transactions/M&A work.

Christian Hauge

Christian Hauge works on the areas of shipping and offshore, with emphasis on litigation and dispute resolution in maritime law, contract law and the law of damages. Harald Hellebust

Partner Harald Hellebust works mainly with transactions, including purchase and sale of businesses for buy-out funds and industrial players. His main areas of expertise are company law and contract law. Hellebust was admitted to the Supreme Court in 2008.

Magnus Hellesylt

Partner Magnus Hellesylt has special expertise in litigation and dispute resolution, often involving highly complex matters. He is admitted to the Supreme Court.

Stephan L Jervell

Partner Stephan L. Jervell works with litigation, dispute resolution and negotiations, and public law framework conditions for trade and industry, including EU/EEA law. His expertise also includes administrative law, competition law, state aid and procurement law, and contract law. Jervell is admitted to the Supreme Court and litigates regularly before Norwegian courts. He has litigated before the EFTA Court and carried out several hearings before the EU Commission. He also has experience as an arbitrator in national and international arbitrations. In recent years, Jervell has been highly engaged in international arbitration in shipping, oil and gas, M&A disputes and general contract law. He has litigated many cases in the ICC and the SCC systems and also been engaged in ad hoc arbitration.

Hans Erik Johnsen

Partner Hans Erik Johnsen's practice includes intellectual property law, broadcasting/media law, technology and telecommunication law and trademark/marketing law. He also provides general assistance to companies in the media/technology/telecom sectors. Johnsen has long experience with contract negotiations and with providing strategic and legal advice to companies in these markets. He has also been a board member in companies relevant to his fields of expertise.

Partner Jarle Kvam works mainly with company law and stock exchange law, with emphasis on advising and preparing contracts in business transfers, mergers and private equity/venture capital investments and instruments. Partner Tom Rune Lian works mainly with real estate, with emphasis on transactions and financing, operation and development of commercial real estate. For many years, Lian has assisted major financial and operational players in the commercial real estate market with acquisition, sale, structuring, management and strategic advice. Lian is also the author of several articles on his areas of expertise.

Kristian Martin Lind

Kristian M. Lind advises clients operating or having interests in the technology, trade and oil & gas sectors. He advises clients on M&A, restructuring and general company law. He has extensive experience with negotiating and setting up cross-border joint ventures and other business combinations between shareholders.

Partner Ronny Lund works with contract law in general and construction law in particular, both onshore and offshore. His assistance includes all stages of a contractual relationship, from the pre-contractual phase of preparations, contract drafting and negotiations, to contract administration and dispute resolution in or out of court. Lund's background from the Office of the City Advocate in Oslo has given him good knowledge of and experience with related areas of law, including general and special administrative law and the rules regarding the pre-contractual phase of public procurement. Lund also has extensive experience with litigation before Norwegian and international courts of arbitration. He is also widely used as a mediator and arbitrator.

Simen Mejlænder

Partner Simen Mejlænder's practice focuses on capital market transactions, general company law and securities law. He has considerable experience with assisting Norwegian and international companies and managers in connection with listing processes on the Oslo stock exchange and Oslo Axess. Thomas G Naalsund

Hans Augun Parmann

Partner Hans Augun Parmann specialises in litigation, dispute resolution and contract law, in particular construction law dispute resolution (on and offshore). Olav Fr Perland

Partner Olav Fr. Perland works mainly with dispute resolution and providing advisory services in company, securities and contract law. He has particular experience with liability cases, including directors’ liability, professional liability and liability for misrepresentation. Perland is the head of and a lecturer in the subjects "Company Law 2 – Transactions, Stock Exchange and Securities Law" in the master study of business and economics and "Securities Law" in the bachelor study of finance, both at BI Norwegian Business School. He is also the author of several articles on his areas of practice. Olav Fr. Perland has a Ph.D from the University of Bergen with the thesis ”Manager/underwriter liability – Investment firms’ liability in connection with placement of shares”.

Jon Rabben assists Norwegian and international clients within the energy sector, and his main areas of expertise are acquisitions, financing, negotiations, dispute resolution and regulatory requirements within this business segment. Jon's practice includes assistance to petroleum producers on the Norwegian continental shelf, producers of hydro electric power and businesses engaged in new renewable power. He is admitted to the Supreme Court.

Partner Karl Even Rygh works with shipping and offshore transactions, in particular newbuilding and conversion projects, sale & purchase of vessels and sale & lease back transactions. Helge Morten Svarva

Partner Helge M. Svarva has extensive litigation experience from both his time at the Office of the Attorney General and his time at Wiersholm. He has particularly provided advisory and litigation services in major contracting disputes both offshore (FPSOs, platforms, rigs etc.) and in onshore activities. He also has much experience with energy law (hydro-electric power) and real estate law. Svarva has been admitted to the Supreme Court (1988), and he is often used as an arbitrator and mediator.

Christel heads Wiersholms employment law team and has extensive experience within employment law and dispute resolution.

Partner Kai Thøgersen has extensive national and international experience with providing corporate and strategic advice, contract drafting and negotiations in mergers, acquisitions, capital market transactions and other major restructuring processes. Thøgersen is also an experienced team and negotiation leader, and for more than eight years he was the Managing Partner of one of Norway's leading law firms.
