Marieke is a partner in De Brauw's litigation practice, specialising in mass claims and follow-on damages litigation. She is based in Amsterdam.

Marieke began her career practising the full breadth of competition law, including litigating before Dutch and European competition authorities and courts. In the last ten years, Marieke has focused on complex mass litigation, acting as defence counsel for large corporates in tort actions, and breach of contract matters.

In 2010, Marieke was seconded to Herbert Smith in London for six months. In 2014, she was seconded to Akzo Nobel. Before joining De Brauw, Marieke was counsel at Stibbe in Amsterdam. Marieke has been mentioned in the 2020, 2021 and 2022 Chambers Competition/European law rankings, with the latter naming her an "Up-and-Coming" lawyer.

Marieke's recent work includes acting as defence counsel in follow-on damages proceedings based on:

a Commission decision imposing EUR 3 billion in fines on European truck manufacturers; a Commission decision imposing EUR 776 million in fines on air cargo carriers for participating in an alleged cartel; a Commission decision relating to the high-voltage power cable market.
