Position

Massimo assists Italian and foreign clients in handling civil, commercial, corporate, banking and insurance litigation, both before ordinary courts and in arbitration proceedings, as well as in drafting and conclusion of contracts. Massimo has gained significant experience in arbitrary proceedings and is regularly appointed in ad hoc and administered arbitrations. He appears on the list of arbitrators of the Arbitration Chamber for Public Contracts at ANAC and the Arbitration and Conciliation Chamber of Cooperation.

Career

Massimo Proto joined the Firm as of Counsel in 2020 and became a Partner in 2024. Since the same year he has been Head of the “Commercial Litigation” Practice Area.

Full Professor of Private Law since 2015, he is currently tenured at the Link Campus University of Rome, where he is Coordinator of the Law degree course and teaches Civil Law; he has also taught, in the same University, “Introduction to private law” in English and has been Director of the School of Specialization for the Legal Professions. At the University of Rome LUISS Guido Carli, he holds the teaching of Private Law 1 and 2 at the Department of Law and the teaching of Private Law at the Department of Business and Management. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Executive Master in Sports Law, organized at the IMT School of Higher Education in agreement with Sport and Health S.p.A., and teaches in the “Giulio Onesti” Olympic Management Course organized by the CONI High School of Olympic Specialization. He is the author of monographs and numerous essays and articles, appearing in Italian and international journals, on private law and sports law.

He is a member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS, since 2023) and the CONI Sports Agents Commission (since 2020).He is a legal expert supporting the functions assigned to the Minister for Sport and Youth (since 2023). He is a member of the Associazione Civilisti Italiani,  the Italian Society of Civil Law Scholars, the Union of Privatists and the Higher Institute for Arbitration Studies, and the Society of European Contract Law.
