Antitrust and competition in Taiwan

Baker McKenzie leverages the firm’s established international presence to advise companies in the private equity, pharma, food processing, and electronics sectors, among others, in relation to cross-border merger and competition law issues. With considerable experience litigating in connection with a wide range of matters, including cartel and abuse of dominance investigations, consumer protection cases, and antitrust-related litigation, Sonya Hsu heads the practice in Taipei, alongside Fang-Yi Jen. The two have recently led a team representing major electronic component manufacturer, Yageo Corporation, in a pre-merger notification before the FTC in relation to its acquisition of Hudson Holdco France, a subsidiary of Schneider Electric Industries. Jen is also an experienced merger control and cartel specialist, skilled at preparing leniency applications for clients under investigation by Taiwan’s antitrust regulator.

  • Represented a client in relation to a pre-merger notification before the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission for the joint venture between its Singapore subsidiary, Archer Daniels Midland Singapore, Pte. Ltd., and Clyde Investments Pte. Ltd., a member of Temasek group.
  • Represented Taiwan Alvogen Ltd. in a cartel investigation and a subsequent administrative lawsuit against the TFTC decision on the concerted actions.
