It acted for Credit Suisse against a claim brought by the former prime minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili, for the alleged fraud of a relationship manager and represented Ernest De Lasala in a ultra-high-value trust dispute between different factions of a family and involved several corporate entities in BVI, Panama and Singapore. Dentons Rodyk has a sizeable team that operates at the forefront of a number of key areas, including medical defence and construction litigation. The firm is also noted for arbitration-related court proceedings thanks in part to the presence of 'wonderful litigatorPhilip Jeyaretnam SC. The firm represented Bachmeer Capital in its claim against its ex-joint venture partners concerning the $2.2bn development of an integrated resort in Shanghai. Siang Pheng Lek is recommended for medical defence work, including for both doctors and hospitals. Audrey Chiang and Paul Wong are also senior litigators, while Edric Pan is 'commended for his legal knowledge and acumen, and prompt updates'.

Morgan Lewis Stamford LLC has a solid record in big-ticket litigation. Daniel Chia (a 'terrific litigator') led the team that acted for Terfel Ventures, Green Palm Capital and Dali Agro in recovery proceedings concerning over $3.5m of funds that were fraudulently transferred from several bank accounts which the companies held at Asia's largest bank. Stephen Cheong is recommended for insurance and reinsurance disputes. Wendy Tan is noted for shipping, trade and commodities, and energy disputes. Adrian Tan has joined TSMP Law Corporation, while Lynette Chew has joined CMS Holborn Asia.

RPC Premier Law delivers 'strong partner support' and 'great client care'. The firm represented Lippo Marina Collection in a dispute with United Overseas Bank over home loans to buyers of units in a high-end condominium project. Siraj Omar is 'a formidable litigator' who receives numerous referrals from larger Singapore litigation practices.  See Chern Yang is 'a good team player' and 'strategic thinker'.

Shook Lin & Bok LLP fields a team that is 'very responsive', 'commercial' and 'great value for money'. It has maintained a healthy pipeline of insolvency, banking and shareholder disputes, and is frequently engaged in big-ticket disputes including those that reach the Court of Appeal. Clients include listed corporates, banks and accounting firms. The team represented one of the largest creditors in the judicial management of Swiber Holdings and Swiber Offshore Construction, one of the largest corporate insolvencies in Singapore. Sarjit Singh Gill SC is 'very experienced' and 'has a very good rapport with clients'. Debby Lim is 'very personable, bright and driven and takes a commercial approach'. David Chan and Probin Dass are also highly reputed. Ng Yeow Khoon has joined from Withers KhattarWong LLP.

Straits Law Practice LLC has a formidable record in dispute resolution, and is noted for its advocacy skills and expertise in a range of cases, most notably gaining additional prominence in banking and insolvency cases, including representing clients in claims against banks. It acted for the Mandalay Trust in its $500m claim against Credit Suisse and Credit Suisse Trust. The 'very responsive' team features N Sreenivasan SC, who is 'rated as one of the top lawyers' and is feted for his 'fierce and exacting cross-examination skills'. Muralli Rajaram is also recommended, as is construction disputes expert Joseph Liow Wang Wu.

TSMP Law Corporation has a small but potent practice led by the eminent Thio Shen Yi SC which continues to make an impression in shareholder disputes, high-profile restructurings and construction cases. Adrian Tan joined the firm from Morgan Lewis Stamford LLC, bringing additional senior-level expertise in real estate collective sales disputes and IP litigation. The firm successfully acted for six plaintiffs in one of the largest-ever trust disputes in Singapore. It also defended Peter Tan against allegations of a breach of a non-solicitation clause and breach of fiduciary duties brought by former employer Prudential following his move to Aviva. Melvin Chan is recommended for construction cases. Tan Cheng Han SC has left the firm.

Bird & Bird ATMD LLP has genuine dispute resolution pedigree and has upped its emphasis on investigations and compliance, thanks in part to the extensive regulatory knowledge that sits within the team; the team frequently acts for regulators. Beyond this, the practice has experienced growth in shareholder disputes and high-value licensing disputes. It represented Verona Capital in an appeal before the Singapore Court of Appeal concerning its claim against Ramba Energy West Jambi for breach of an investment agreement relating to the exploration and production of oil and gas in Sumatra, Indonesia. Swee Siang Boey, Navin Joseph Lobo and Jonathan Choo comprise an impressive senior team; Choo is 'friendly, easy to work with and well experienced in litigation'.

Braddell Brothers LLP has plenty of big-case experience, including in the High Court and Court of Appeal. The firm has a strong reputation in Singapore and around Southeast Asia. It successfully represented PT First Media in resisting enforcement of a $250m Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) arbitration award in both the Hong Kong and Singapore courts. The practice is also recommended for injunctions and cases involving high-net-worth individuals. Lead partner Edmund Kronenburg 'upholds a high standard'.

CNPLaw LLP has a broad dispute resolution practice with a fine record in shareholder, construction and insolvency disputes. It has made an impression in cross-border cases, including those involving Chinese parties; the team has a number of competent Mandarin speakers. The practice represented a Hong Kong company in a High Court case against two wholly-owned subsidiaries of a Singapore-listed company. Subramanian Pillai is noted for commercial litigation, insolvency cases and construction disputes, while See Tow Soo Ling has a fine record in commercial, matrimonial and IP-related disputes.

Eversheds Harry Elias fields a large team of dispute resolution specialists that includes Philip Fong and S Suressh, who are prominent practitioners in cases linked to financial scandals, market manipulation and money laundering. Fong acted for the first defendant in a case brought by the Keppel Club alleging fraudulent misrepresentation, conspiracy to injure, breach of employment contract, breach of fiduciary duties, knowing receipt, dishonest assistance and unjust enrichment. The practice is also at the forefront of intellectual property cases, has a steady diet of contractual disputes engagements and is a growing force in real estate collective sales cases. Justin Chia is noted for construction disputes and restructuring and insolvency cases.

LVM Chambers has made a big impression on the market since launching in January 2017. Much of the practice has centred on big-ticket insurance claims for insurers and policyholders. The firm also represented the founders of Yolk, the local advertising agency, in a case against WPP Singapore, following the sale of a majority stake to the global adverstising giant. Oon & Bazul LLP has a background in shipping disputes, but has built a strong reputation across the dispute resolution field, most notably in trade and commodities, banking and commercial cases. Key figures include Bazul Ashhab, Kelly Yap, who 'is responsive and able to understand the complexity of a matter and map it out in a simple and understandable format', and Lionel Chan. Insolvency specialist Meiyen Tan 'is very good with clients, extremely smart, commercially minded and realistic'. Chenthil Kumarasingam is recommended for white-collar crime cases.

Pinsent Masons MPillay is recognised for construction and infrastructure disputes, including arbitration-related court proceedings. Mohan Pillay is a top-drawer litigator with huge experience.

Providence Law Asia LLC has emerged as a prominent boutique practice that often receives referrals from other larger firms. Abraham Vergis is a popular figure and 'safe pair of hands' with deep Singapore court experience, including in the SICC.

RHTLaw Taylor Wessing LLP has considerable senior level expertise through partners such as Roderick Martin SC, Nandakumar Renganathan, construction specialist Conrad Campos, Eugene Quah and Ling Ling Luo, who joined from Aequitas Law LLP. The team covers a vast array of disputes ranging from commercial to defamation cases. It has also experienced considerable growth in infrastructure cases involving Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines; white collar crime is another strength. It represented Qilin World Capital in its Court of Appeal dispute with CPIT Investments over a non-recourse loan of shares listed on the Hong Kong Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) index; the case was first heard before the SICC.

Selvam LLC has a high volume of construction and commercial disputes and is active in the corporate crime and investigations field. In the construction sector, the firm represents a number of Japanese and Korean contractors. Cases involving Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia are also a forte for the practice. The firm is praised for its 'speedy response times, wide knowledge, extensive experience in contentious matters and good value for money'. Led by key litigator Sarbjit Singh Chopra, the firm defended Avant Garde Maritime Services against Rakna Arakshaka Lanka, the Sri Lankan government-owned business, in the High Court over a dispute relating to a master agreement for various maritime security-related projects, including the establishment of a floating armoury on the vessel MV Mahnuwara, which was detained by the Sri Lankan police while docked at Galle Port. Samuel Sharpe is recommended for white-collar crime cases. Wei Chern Tham has joined Fullerton Law Chambers LLC as a director.

Simmons & Simmons JWS has earned prominence through its exposure to SICC cases. It represented Tozzi Industries in a dispute with Bumi Armada Offshore and Bumi Armada Berhad regarding the FPSO for the Madura BD gas field in Indonesia with proceedings transferring to the SICC where judgment went in favour of the firm’s client in September 2017. The team led by Mohammed Reza is also known for its expertise and experience in banking and financial institutions cases.

Tan Kok Quan Partnership is noted for its track record in white-collar crime, banking disputes and commercial cases. The practice continued to defend Sharon Tan in the City Harvest Church dispute, the headline white-collar crime case in Singapore. The firm comprises 'top-quality litigators', and is 'one of the best mid-sized firms in Singapore for insolvency and restructuring'. Marina Chin and Eddee Ng head the practice, which includes Paul Seah who has 'a strong commercial sense and good knowledge of insolvency law'. Of counsel Alcina Chew 'is very thorough, efficient, dedicated, and a star of the future'.

Virtus Law LLP - Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance's practice extends beyond its staple diet of shipping disputes to cover fraud and white-collar crime, insolvency, general commercial litigation and arbitration-related litigation. Daryll Ng has a strong background in shipping and commercial disputes, Terence Seah is noted for fraud and white-collar crime, and Lauren Tang is recommended for insolvency cases.

Withers KhattarWong LLP's Singapore office is heavily focused on dispute resolution and provides 'an excellent service'. The firm has an extensive track record handling cases involving financial institutions and has experienced a notable uptick in international commercial litigation and white-collar crime cases; it acted for the claimants in a groundbreaking case in which an insurance company was found to be vicariously liable for its agent’s acts.
