Hadiputranto, Hadinoto & Partners, a member firm of Baker McKenzie's employment team is 'excellent at managing expectations' and provides advice that is 'practical to the point and useful'. 'Excellent' practice head Susie Beaumont is 'one of the few foreign-educated lawyers in Indonesia that has an employment background' and is thereby 'uniquely positioned to be a bridge between regional practitioners and local lawyers'. Associate partner Alvira Wahjosoedibjo is also a key figure.

Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung in association with Herbert Smith Freehills is a popular choice for international clients in both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. Disputes specialist Narendra Adiyasa regularly represents clients on employment issues and often conducts internal investigations. Santi Darmawan is also a name of note.

Makarim & Taira S. has a strong track record advising employers on terminations and redundancies, and has a client roster that includes Hilton, Cisco and Kerry Ingredients. Lia Alizia is the key point of contact.

Soemadipradja & Taher has expertise in both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. Rahmat Soemadipradja co-heads the practice and is known for his work in industrial relations disputes. Fellow practice head Retno Muljosantoso advised WeWork on its employment terms and conditions and was instructed by Workday on general advisory matters. Foreign counsel Robert Reid is also a key figure.

SSEK Legal Consultants' skillset in the labour space includes advising on contracts, pensions, benefits and the employment elements of M&A. Fahrul Yusuf co-heads the team and advised Petronas on the implementation of its flexible working programme. Rusmaini Lenggogeni also leads the practice and assisted Energiser with its employment contracts, pensions and data privacy rules.

Boutique employment and industrial relations firm Sudjono & Rekan Law Offices is led by managing partner Hernoko Wibowo; he represented Toyota Astra Motor on renewing its collective labour agreement with an industrial union and acted for G4S in a dispute over the termination of one of its employees, which was brought before the Supreme Court.

Ali Budiardjo, Nugroho, Reksodiputro advise on contracts, immigration, and termination disputes. Recent work highlights include practice head Nafis Adwani acting for Johnson & Johnson on a termination dispute and Indra Setiawan advising Edelman on a dispute over separation pay for one of its former employees.

Assegaf Hamzah & Partners specialises in contentious matters. Ahmad Maulana heads up the practice and represented Alpen when it experienced a six-week strike by its workers.

Widyawan & Partners advises on employee transfers, disputes and data protection matters. Yolanda Hutapea helms the practice and recently advised Bain & Company on reviewing its employment policies in Indonesia. The firm regularly collaborates with the Singapore office of associate firm Linklaters.
