Samuli Simojoki heads Borenius’ TMT practice which advised Fingrid on a project involving a centralised information exchange system for the electricity retail market. It represented Fisher King Production in negotiations for the financing, sale and international distribution of its successful television series. Clients also include the Finnish men’s premier ice-hockey league and telecoms companies Elisa and AinaCom.

HPP Attorneys’ TMT practice provides ‘very good service’ and ‘excellent end results’. As part of its expertise in IT and technology, it frequently advises on outsourcing negotiations. Klaus Nyblin heads the life sciences group which is acting for the chief medical officers of five major hospital districts in a dispute regarding the use of new technology in reproductive treatments, requiring consideration of human rights and healthcare law. Practice head Kari-Matti Lehti is highly regarded in IT.

Roschier is, according to one client, ‘the best’ in Finland for TMT. It represented Nokia in projects including the takeover of Alcatel Lucent. ‘Top performerMikko Manner acted for Discovery Networks Finland on the renewal of its broadcasting licences. Practice head Arto Linnervuo has ‘industry knowledge that is second to none’ and Johanna Lilja is a data protection expert.

Castrén & Snellman provides ‘quick response times, good industry knowledge and value for money’. It advised Kone on IT and outsourcing matters in jurisdictions including the US and China. Newly promoted partner Pia Ek heads the team and other key contacts include Eija Warma for data protection and Kimmo Rekola for technology.

Dittmar & Indrenius advises Ikea on the maintenance and development of ICT and data processing. Clients highlight Jukka Lång as being ‘the best data protection lawyer in Finland’. Head of the technology and outsourcing team Kai Erlund is a key contact. Other clients include Amazon, Expedia and McDonald’s.

The ‘excellent, responsive and very accommodating’ team at Hannes Snellman advises Berner on drafting and negotiating IT procurement agreements. Panu Siitonen heads the team, which includes new arrivals Jesper Nevalainen and counsel Outi Jousi from Bird & Bird. Microsoft Corporation, Accenture and Kone Corporation are other clients.

Inventio Attorneys has ‘a business-minded approach and excellent response times’ and is particularly noted for IT-related transactions. The team acts for Xerox on drafting and negotiating agreements and has previously advised the company on high-value, cross-border outsourcing deals. Topi Lusenius heads the team, which includes of counsel Pekka Takki.

The ‘strong team’ at Krogerus combines ‘solid business acumen and industry knowledge’ with ‘good value for money’ and ‘excellent response times’. It is advising Samsung on several matters including contracts, privacy, consumer and product liability law. Practice head Mika Puittinen and managing partner Juha-Pekka Katainen are key contacts.

Lexia Attorneys Ltd’s team of ‘top notch’ lawyers advised Finnair on agreements for the development of enterprise apps with IBM. Sami Rintala and Markus Myhrberg jointly head the team, which includes the well-regarded Kimmo Oila, who joined from Eversheds Asianajotoimisto Oy / Eversheds Attorneys Ltd (a member of Eversheds Sutherland).

The ‘service-minded’ team at Bird & Bird provides ‘one-stop shopping’ for TMT. It advised the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation (Tekes) on data security and privacy, public procurement and IP issues relating to the development of a digital matchmaking tool. Sakari Halonen heads the practice.

DLA Piper assisted Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company and Infocare with outsourcing transactions and agreements. Practice head Markus Oksanen is a key contact. Solteq and Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company are also clients.

Eversheds Asianajotoimisto Oy / Eversheds Attorneys Ltd (a member of Eversheds Sutherland) provides ‘in-depth knowledge, great response times and value for money’. It is advising VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland on its 5G road safety project. Juha Taipale is a key figure in the team. Kimmo Oila joined Lexia Attorneys Ltd.

Mäkitalo Rantanen & Co Ltd assists Ccea on a range of work including cross-border outsourcing projects. Jani Rantanen heads the team. Marja Hohti, formerly a senior associate with the firm, left in 2018.

The practice at Merilampi Attorneys Ltd advised Suominen Corporation on a major IT project. Erkko Ruohoniemi is a key contact for telecoms and advertising law and specialist counsel Sakari Aalto is noted for data protection advice. As of January 2018, the firm’s Tampere office, which housed former TMT practice head Jussi Lampinen, spun-off from the firm and is operating independently under the name Merkurius Attorneys Ltd.

Attorneys-at-law Trust. Ltd represented A-Katsastus Group on an outsourcing agreement for services from Atos. Jan Lindberg is head of the TMT practice. Other clients include Nordcloud, BearingPoint and F-Secure.
