The project and energy department at Hughes & Hughes has a strong expertise in renewables – especially wind – and environmental law. The team regularly advises on major EPCM contracts, PPPs, and complex financings, and is recognised by Uruguay’s Ministry of Industry for its role in the wind sector. Recent highlights include advising Invenergy and DIF Capital Partners on large-scale project financings and M&A. Co-leader Haroldo Espalter has extensive experience advising national and international companies on all aspects of commercial, industrial and service sector activities in Uruguay. Co-leader Mariana Estradé specialises in international law, energy and projects, environmental law and M&A, advising UPM on a large private investment in a pulp mill and related infrastructure. Associate Clara Villaamil has extensive experience in energy and infrastructure projects, having advised clients such as Invenergy on the acquisition and long-term financing of a 71 MW wind farm.
