Baker Botts L.L.P. leverages expertise in a broad variety of income tax planning matters as well as M&A and capital markets transactions. The team is particularly active in the oil and gas sector. Dallas-based Steve Marcus and Houston-based Derek Green head up the tax team. Green’s diverse caseload includes cross-border transactions, optimal cross-border asset leasing structures, licensing arrangements and restructurings. He is supported in Houston by Jon Lobb. Lobb’s clients are mainly multinational energy and telecoms companies and he primarily advises on cross-border investment structures and transactions, including M&A, international energy projects and securities offerings. Further strengthening the team and located in Dallas, Jason Graham handles a broad range of domestic and international transactions as well as advising on global tax strategy and fund formation matters. Friedemann Thomma and Rebecca Chappell both joined the team in October 2025.
