Kaytie Pickett is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group and is a co-leader of Jones Walker’s commercial disputes team.

Kaytie has developed a particular focus on moving clients’ high-risk cases out of challenging venues. She has successfully removed cases to federal court, transferred venue, and had cases dismissed on complex jurisdictional grounds. Kaytie also has developed a deep knowledge of the law governing arbitration. She has successfully moved to compel arbitration for many clients in various types of disputes and has defended those orders on appeal.

Kaytie represents manufacturers, contractors, and downstream companies in the steel, plastics, energy, and construction industries, both as plaintiff and as defendant, in breach of contract, UCC, fraud, trade secret, bid protest, and shareholder disputes. She also represents clients in the financial services industry, including lenders, REITs, trustees, real estate developers, mortgage servicers, debt collectors, and debt settlement negotiators, in disputes involving state breach of contract, wrongful foreclosure, lender liability, and consumer protection law, as well as federal laws such as TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, and FDCPA. Kaytie works hand-in-hand with the firm’s bankruptcy lawyers to represent financial services clients in bankruptcy adversary proceedings and has successfully compelled arbitration in such cases.

Before joining Jones Walker, Kaytie served as a law clerk to the Honorable Rhesa H. Barksdale of the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She has since developed a significant appellate practice and has represented clients as parties and amici curiae before the Mississippi Court of Appeals, the Mississippi Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeals for the Second and Fifth circuits. Kaytie’s appellate work has been described as "succinct, intelligible and persuasive" by the scholar in residence of a national publication.
