Split between New York and Chicago, Proskauer Rose LLP‘s real estate capital markets practice is led by Michael Choate and Steven Lichtenfeld from New York and Chicago, respectively. The practice is historically known for its expertise in the non-traded REIT sector, but has recently been expanding its scope to include private REITs. Choate is a specialist in private equity and joint venture transactions, while also handling M&A and corporate governance for REIT clients. Lichtenfeld has long-standing expertise in rea estate capital markets, advising REITs on debt and equity securities, preferred equity investments and joint ventures. The team is trusted by clients in a number of asset classes such as retail, healthcare, data centers, and single family homes. Experienced figure David Slotkin joined the team in Washington DC from Morrison Foerster in early 2025.
