McDermott Will & Schulte‘s large-scale, national private client practice regularly supports entrepreneurs from its California base, advising on and establishing private trust companies and family offices. It works closely with the global firm, including offices in UK, France, Germany, Austria, Hong Kong, and Australia. Clients include families with complex trust and company structures in their second, third, or fourth generations, with support from the firm’s experts in corporate governance, income tax, family law, and other teams. Matters involving cryptocurrency assets are a particular area of strength. Practice head Julie Kwon, in San Francisco, has notable experience in charitable giving, and generation-skipping transfer tax.
