The tax policy and government affairs team at Miller & Chevalier Chartered combines government experience with technical tax expertise, working with clients to create and implement strategies around tax legislation. Marc Gerson heads the Washington DC-based team, drawing on experience gained as Majority Tax Counsel to the House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means. In February 2025 Michael Desmond joined the team from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. Desmond’s practice includes an emphasis on administrative tax policy, tax controversy, and litigation. Layla Asali is the go-to for issues involving the taxation of cross-border transactions, and Rocco Femia has experience counseling clients on the implications of international tax developments and enforcement on cross-border supply chains. Jorge Castro departed the team in September 2025.
