Dentons has expanded its presence in restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy with the hire of specialist partners Jill Nicholson and Andrew McClain, along with counsel Dean Victor, to its Chicago office from Foley & Lardner LLP. Clay Taylor has also joined the Dallas office. The expanded team is now spread across multiple offices with particularly strong groups in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC and Houston. The department is further noted for its experience in healthcare cases, along with financial services and insurance, real estate, energy, mining, automotive and manufacturing. Chicago-based Robert Richards is chair of the global department and has a focus on chapter 11 cases, distressed asset acquisitions and distressed loan purchases. Los Angeles partners Tania Moyron, chair of the global team’s US region, and Samuel Maizel, are prominent figures, especially in healthcare industry restructurings and bankruptcies. Sam Alberts is another key name in Washington DC and rated for his bankruptcy litigation expertise. Van Durrer joined the team from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in January 2025.
