Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP has made considerable progress in the market, representing a mix of debtors, boards and special committees, distressed investors, purchasers, hedge funds, ad hoc and official unsecured creditor committees, and equity sponsors, among other constituencies. It has an established record in chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings, along with distressed asset transactions and liability management exercises; the firm represented iHeartMedia in a liability management transaction via two alternative exchange transaction structures. It has an even balance of creditor and debtor representations, though has substantially grown its company-side engagements in recent years. Sandeep Qusba heads the restructuring group and has a background in large chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings and liability management exercises. Elisha Graff is co-head of the special situations team and a key member of the restructuring group; working with both creditors and debtors, he has some strong bank relationships. Nicholas Baker is another key partner, working with both debtors and creditors, while David Zylberberg, who was elevated to the partnership in 2023, has made a further impression with investors and debtors, including in the real estate sector. All named individuals are based in New York. Sunny Singh  has left the firm.
