Oil and gas transactions and financing are the key areas of expertise for King & Spalding’s Houston-based team. The team focuses on acquisitions, divestments, and offtake agreements, with an emphasis on LNG, hydrogen, CCUS, and other petrochemical mandates. Veteran practitioner, Stuart Zisman, with extensive experience in midstream and downstream transactions and advising on pipelines, storage and processing facilities, is the practice head. Strengthening the practice’s project development and midstream and downstream oil and gas transactional ability is Mark Schlackman. Kimberlee Cagle, focused on leveraged finance and representing lenders and borrowers on reserve-based credit facilities for oil and gas exploration and production companies, is another key team member. Jonathan Newton is a stand-out contact for public and private M&A, securities offerings, and SEC reporting, especially in oil and gas transactions. Peter Hays left the team in June 2025.
