Fortress Investment Group has built a significant presence in the litigation finance market through its Legal Assets Group, deploying capital across a range of structures, including single-case funding, law firm finance and portfolio transactions. Backed by a large global credit platform, the group has committed substantial capital across a wide portfolio of matters and is regularly involved in high-value, high-profile disputes, both directly and through partnerships with other funders. Founder and head of the firm’s Legal Assets group, Jack Neumark, is also co-chief investment officer of the Legal Assets Fund and co-head of specialty finance. Neumark brings a hybrid legal and investment background, having previously held a senior role at a distressed debt fund and practised at leading U.S. law firms in restructuring, finance and corporate matters. A former litigator experienced in securities and commercial disputes, co-chief investment officer of the firm’s Legal Assets Fund, Joseph Dunn, heads up Legal Assets Investments in the US.
