Investigated Madoff’s financial affairs, a task that involved identifying and analyzing massive amounts of documentation and data. More than 120 of FTI’s professionals from around the world worked with the trustee to recover proceeds, reconstructing books and records, determining amounts deposited and withdrawn from thousands of customer accounts, and analyzing hundreds of millions of transactions. The team helped the trustee trace assets and file legal proceedings in many U.S. and international jurisdictions, which have led to recoveries of approximately $14.5bn as of January 20, 2022. This represents about 75% of the $19.4bn in allowed principal claims, and recovery efforts are still ongoing.
