O'Melveny has a broad securities litigation practice but it excels in key market niches such as fintech and cryptocurrency. The practice is led by Jonathan Rosenberg in New York and Matthew Close in Newport Beach, which reflects the firm’s strong presence in key litigation fora across the country. Close, who is ‘exceptionally responsive’, and Brittany Rogers in Los Angeles were lead counsel for Maxar Technologies in a series of securities class actions concerning public statements regarding accounting for the company’s GEO communications assets. LA-based William Pao is another key name, and his recent work includes assisting cryptocurrency mining company Canaan, Inc. in a class action concerning the company’s alleged failure to disclose negative prior-quarter results when it made statements about its business prospects.
