Based in New York, Jonathan Youngwood is the global co-chair of the litigation department at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and brings extensive experience in securities and M&A litigation. He continues to represent Paramount Global following its merger with Skydance Media, with the board accused of breaching its fiduciary duty. Additionally, he is representing BorgWarner as it seeks tax reimbursement from its spinoff PHINIA alleging it violated its Tax Matters Agreement, and represented Spire Global, succeeding in expediting the sale of its ship-tracking business to Kpler. Youngwood also advised the Federal Reserve Banks of New York and San Francisco on matters relating to Master Accounts.

Position

Global Co-Chair of the Firm’s Litigation Department and leads the Civil Securities Litigation Practice. He has represented corporations, boards of directors, and other clients in a wide range of high-profile complex commercial litigations and arbitration matters, including securities, corporate control, antitrust, ERISA, and bankruptcy disputes. Jon is also an experienced appellate lawyer, having argued more than 25 appeals, including cases in the majority of the federal circuit courts. Jon has successfully achieved high-profile appellate reversals and affirmations on behalf of clients in the financial services, hospitality, media and entertainment, e-commerce, and public sector, among others. Additionally, he has extensive experience representing clients in matters before state and federal regulators.

Joined the Firm in 1995; became Partner in 2003. Law clerk to the Honorable Dennis G. Jacobs (Second Circuit) 1994-95.
