Dechert’s disputes practice is built to represent international technology companies, media organizations, sovereign entities, and global asset managers in high-stakes litigation. The practice leadership consists of Michael McGinley (Philadelphia/Washington DC), a leading appellate litigator known for steering complex federal disputes and bet-the-company commercial conflicts, and New York-based Joni Jacobsen, who brings deep experience in securities class actions and corporate governance disputes. In New York, the office’s managing partner Mauricio España handles a mix of internal corporate, criminal, and regulatory investigations alongside commercial disputes, while Gary Mennitt co-heads the insolvency litigation group, with significant experience leading creditors’ rights and bondholder litigation in distressed and restructuring contexts. In Philadelphia, Steven Bizar brings more than three decades of experience trying complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts and before arbitrators and has represented market-leading clients in some of their most significant disputes over the past year. In DC, Christina Sarchio stands out for her work in commercial and white-collar defense litigation, while recent recruit Wilfred Beaye, who joined the bench in August 2025, adds frontline government enforcement expertise. The team was further strengthened in 2025 with the arrival of trial veteran Randy Mastro and Tara Lee.
