Career
Lee Mickus is a partner at Evans Fears Schuttert McNulty Mickus and a nationally recognized product liability and tort defense attorney. He defends manufacturers and other business interests in complex litigation across the United States, guiding cases through discovery, trial, and appeal.
Lee has successfully tried cases to juries in numerous jurisdictions, including Colorado, Texas, California, New York, Montana, and Puerto Rico,. He has also argued appeals and submitted amicus briefs in courts across the country. His experience spans a broad range of industries and products, including automobiles, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, industrial machinery, recreational equipment, and consumer products.
In addition to his trial and appellate work, Lee is deeply involved shaping the law governing expert evidence, civil procedure, and tort litigation. He co‑chairs the Lawyers for Civil Justice Rule 702 Committee, which played a prominent role in the recent amendment to Federal Rule of Evidence 702. He has given testimony to numerous state legislative committees on proposed legislation affecting civil liability, and is a frequent author and commentator on evidentiary standards and civil justice reform.
