David A. Lapins has forty years of experience in the areas of commercial real estate, corporate, and finance law, as well as managing complex litigation stemming from these practice areas.

David has extensive experience representing commercial real estate developers, private equity funds, investors, owners, cannabis companies, and institutional lenders. He practices in all aspects of commercial real estate joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, and financings, including multi-property and multi-state mortgage loan transactions, as well as asset and loan portfolio acquisitions and sales. David drafts and negotiates purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, leasing agreements, management agreements, and development agreements. He has vast experience in representing lenders and borrowers in construction, acquisition, mezzanine, and permanent financings, involving logistics, distribution, and industrial projects, hotels, regional shopping malls and other shopping centers, anchor stores, office buildings, multi-family projects, and other real estate properties, as well as loan workouts in these areas.

Education

After graduating from Northwestern University School of Law, David was a Partner at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal (now Dentons US LLP), and then at Drane Freyer & Lapins Limited, where he served in a general counsel capacity for two real estate companies and honed his ability to understand our clients’ interests from the principals’ standpoint.
