For start-ups, established companies, and multinational organizations seeking to build, protect, and maximize the value of their intellectual property assets, Marshall Gerstein partner Greg Chinlund provides strategic counsel on trademarks, design patents, copyrights, and related intellectual property matters. Greg helps clients develop, protect, enforce, and monetize the brands, product designs, and creative works that often represent a company's most valuable assets. His practical approach, combined with a background in business and marketing, allows him to align intellectual property strategy with clients' broader commercial objectives.
Greg counsels clients on trademark selection, clearance, prosecution, licensing, enforcement, and portfolio management in the United States and around the world. During his decades of trademark practice, including more than ten years as Chair of Marshall Gerstein's Trademark and Copyright Practice Groups, he has rendered hundreds of trademark opinions, prosecuted hundreds of trademark applications, and represented clients in Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings, trademark disputes, and copyright enforcement matters. He also advises clients on protecting innovative product designs through design patents and on maximizing the value of copyrighted works through strategic counseling and enforcement. His experience includes managing global trademark portfolios, coordinating international filing and enforcement programs, and representing clients ranging from emerging companies to internationally recognized brands. Greg counsels clients in industries such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, technology, manufacturing, and transportation.
