The team has notable recent experience of handling acquisitions not only involving Nicaragua, but also jurisdictions across Central America and Brazil, Vietnam and Curaçao. Ernesto Rizo leads the team and is well versed in advising local and foreign companies on transactions in the corporate and financial fields, including corporations engaged in the industrialisation and commercialisation of agricultural, forestry and other natural resources. Director Federico Barrios specialises in corporate compliance, and is a key name in both the transactional and regulatory spaces. Special counsel Juan Castillo is skilled in providing strategic guidance to companies in the business services, marketing and manufacturing sectors during the process of establishing their operations in Nicaragua under the free trade zone regime. Since publication, Barrios has been promoted to special counsel - effective as of January 2026.
