The international arbitration group at A&O Shearman has been active in cross-border arbitrations involving multiple jurisdictions across Europe and the US. The Amsterdam-based team is jointly led by Marieke van Hooijdonk and Hilde van der Baan, who are active across a number of key sectors including energy and construction. Van Hooijdonk is the go-to for commercial and corporate disputes, representing clients in both national and international proceedings. Often acting as arbitration counsel, Van der Baan advises on contractual liability, tort, product liability and M&A-related disputes. Marieke Schaink rejoined the firm in January 2023 as counsel and is well versed in representing clients in arbitration and M&A-related disputes. Guido Straub has been involved in a number of multi-jurisdictional arbitrations.
