The practice group at White & Case S.C. routinely assists creditors with a range of bankruptcy, restructuring and insolvency mandates. A recent highlight saw the group advise global energy, commodities and services company World Fuel Services on the bankruptcy proceeding of Interjet. Practice lead Enrique Espejel (who also co-leads the firm’s disputes group) specialises in representing lenders and financial institutions in bankruptcy proceedings, class action litigation and white-collar proceedings. Experienced partner-level support is provided by María Teresa Fernández Labardini, who handles requests for authorisations before the financial and regulatory authorities, along with loan restructurings and M&A; and Diego Mora-Jensen, who focuses on bankruptcy, and commercial and civil litigation mandates. Associate Karla Gabriela Silva left the firm in October 2024. September 2025 saw the return of counsel and veteran bankruptcy and restructuring lawyer Thomas S. Heather to the firm from Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, S.C., where he had been acting as practice co-head. Since publication, Espejel has left the firm – effective as of January 2026.
