Arriving in Mexico by way of its July 2024 absorption of González Calvillo, the Mexican team at Madrid-headquartered Pérez-Llorca is well-placed to assist investment funds, banks and fintechs with a broad range of banking and finance mandates. Core areas of expertise for the group include commercial lending, acquisition financing, project finance and regulatory banking work. José Ignacio Rivero Andere steers the practice and focuses on banking and finance, capital markets work, corporate law and M&A transactions. Bernardo Reyes Retana Krieger (private and public securities offerings, capital markets and M&A) is also a key figure, and the senior team was further strengthened with the raising of Jacinto Ávalos to the partnership in January 2025; he focuses on M&A and financings, capital markets and insurance law. Senior associate Mario de la Portilla joined the firm from an inhouse position at Fairplay in December 2024. The corporate, transactional and financing capabilities of the firm's Monterrey office were also bolstered with the February 2025 hire of Ricardo Morales Barrón from EC Rubio; in the same month, it was announced that Rivero Andere will relocate (with a small team) to the firm's New York office, so as to be able to offer Mexican law service-provision from there.
