A&O Shearman has grown its prominence in Latin America M&A and corporate transactions, thanks to the landmark merger between Allen & Overy and Shearman & Sterling. The Latin America team has a particularly fine record in the renewable energy, conventional power, infrastructure and mining sectors. It has a growing presence in sustainability and energy transition-related deals, telecoms and digital infrastructure transactions, and power and electricity transmission matters. With its substantial global coverage, the firm is frequently engaged by multinational clients on Latin America transactions. A team led by Beijing partner Ling Li advised China Southern Power Grid International on its $3.1bn acquisition of an 83.15% stake in Enel Distribución Perú, the Peru-listed power distribution company. A New York-based team also represented Latin American travel technology company Despegar.com on its sale to global technology business Prosus.
