Paul Hastings LLP has established Latin America M&A specialists in New York and Sao Paulo. The team has some 23 lawyers that hail from Latin American jurisdictions, including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela. The group now has a particular focus on Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Chile, Bolivia, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica. The Latin America team continues to represent a number of Latin America-based companies, including family-owned businesses, and has made a further impression in energy and infrastructure transactions. Robert Leung has extensive experience in Peru and Colombia deals, especially in the energy, natural resources, infrastructure and retail industries. Jonathan Kellner is chair of the Sao Paulo office and a seasoned figure in Brazil and broader Latin America M&A; he has continued to be active in Brazil deals despite relatively slow market activity. Mike Huang is another Latin America M&A specialist, also with a background in infrastructure, energy, natural resources and retail industries.
